How to be…a FLAMINGO!!

Yet another medic fancy dress event. I know, I know, you’re probably getting bored of all the crazy outfits I’m having to throw together… Last week was an Alice in Wonderland themed 21st birthday house party which, I’m not gonna lie, was incredible. The house had been transformed with silver sequined fabric, playing card collages and cupboard designs, fairy lights and glitter into a Wonderland haven only fit for accordingly dressed guests. It would have been disrespectful to not put as much effort into an outfit as the birthday girl had put into decorating her house.

So I decided this time to be a flamingo. Yep, not classically Alice in Wonderland, but Lewis Carroll did indeed include the pink feathery creatures in his novels (think: the croquet scene with the hedgehogs.)

“By the time she had caught the flamingo and brought it back, the fight was over, and both the hedgehogs were out of sight: ‘but it doesn’t matter much,’ thought Alice, ‘as all the arches are gone from the side of the ground.’ So she tucked it away under her arm, that it might not escape again, and went back for a little more conversation with her friend.”

I was that rogue flamingo…

So, onto the most important part:

  1. Buy a pink dress.
  2. You’ll need pink eyeshadows, pink feathers (I ordered some pink ostrich ones off ebay for a fiver), some pink feather eyelashes, glitter, an eyeliner for drawing on details, feather boa (however many you want), pink lipstick!!

Lots of glitter and lots of pink: you can’t really go wrong!!

I drew the outline of the flamingo onto my face with standard liquid eyeliner and then filled it in with pink eyeshadow. On the other eye I just overdid the pink eyeshadow but didn’t adorn it with any additional detail. Add glitter using lipgloss (works for me anyhow) and apply lashes!!
